Nokia 5300 –The Music Gadget


The idea of listening to your favourite tunes anywhere on the go is very old and popular one. Many solutions like Walkman, disc-man and most recently mp3 players are being offered. To cash in the high penetration of mobile phones, a media player was integrated to simplify things up for the customer and instantly become a winning formula for mobile phones.
Sony Ericsson aggressively marketed its Walkman line of mobile phones and before too long, they captured a sizable share in the market. Not to be left behind, Nokia - the world leader in mobile manufacturer came up with their own version of music phones. A prominent member in the XpressMusic phones is the Nokia 5300.
The Nokia 5300 is very distinctive slider phone with its red stripes. When closed, the front is dominated by the 2 inch TFT display with 262,114 true colours. Based on S40 platform, the 5300 supports tri-band mobile network as well as push to talk over cellular network.
The integrated media player supports MP3, AAC, eAAC+, AAC+, WMA and Midi formats. 3GPP video format is supported too. Dedicated keys for play / pause, forward and rewind makes it very convenient to listen to music that too on your preferred headset – thanks to the 3.5 mm jack. The player also supports playlists as well as equalizer and can be customized with different 'skins'. The Nokia 5300 has 32 MB flash and 16 MB RAM apart from hot swapable slot for up to 2 GB memory card. So you can carry all your favourite tunes wherever you go. The phone is also equipped with a FM radio.
The phone also have a 1.3 megapixel camera with digital zoom, which may not be much by today's standard but comes quite handy and takes decent pictures as well as videos. The phone is also enabled with GPRS/EDGE, a full fledged email client, A2DP Bluetooth support, USB, and all other connectivity options you'd expect from a mobile phone today.
